The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.Job Duties: • Conduct, perform, supervise, review, and approve boundary surveys for the acquisition of right of way along the highways in Nebraska. • Prepare plats, maps, corner ties, and field notes of all required surveys to be made of record in the State Surveyor's office. • Research abstract records, recorded surveys, deeds, and all other relevant data required to accumulate information to perform the survey. • Search for existing land monuments which can be quite labor intensive and be performed in all types of weather conditions year-round.• Locate, perpetuate, restore, and re-establish property monuments as necessary to complete the survey including original government corners which may require cooperation with the appropriate County Surveyor. • Supervise survey crews to perform related work as required in the supervisor's absence. • Apply survey law in analyzing and detecting errors in legal descriptions and/or surveys and make necessary corrections. • Answer survey-related questions from people within the Department and from the private sector as well as private, county, and federal surveyors. • Train survey technicians in the use of survey equipment and in the interpretation of survey computed data. Schedule survey crew members' work assignments.• Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements / Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Registration as a Land Surveyor as defined by the Nebraska Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors is required. Applicants must be registered at the time of application or be able to obtain such a license within 90 days of employment.
