Ensures organs and tissue will be recovered to maximize utilization in accordance with LNH and OPTN/UNOS policies.Clinical Evaluation: Responsible for all aspects of donor evaluation and the physiologically management including review of medical and social history; assessment of hemodynamic stability and implementation of strategies to optimize organ function prior to recovery. The coordinator must be knowledgeable of the pathophysiological sequela of brain death. Identifies organ and tissue-specific and behavioral risk factors utilizing all available resources.Clinical Management: Preserves organs and tissue according to LNH and national standards to ensure maximum viability for transplantation. Ensures that the legal next-of-kin (NOK) is provided the option of organ and tissue donation in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
