Clinical Research Nurse Part time position for a Clinical Research Nurse in the Behavioral Immunology Laboratory, Department of Psychology. The incumbent will assume full responsibility for coordinating a research study (the PaTH project) funded by a research grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute studying how early life experiences impact the physical health of men. Must be a qualified research nurse to oversee and coordinate all aspects of this study and assume full responsibility for conducting physical health and medical history screening and assessments, collecting biological samples (blood and urine) and overseeing the processing of these samples, clinical monitoring of participant wellbeing, and oversight of long-term sample storage and inventory. Will supervise and train two staff members, a graduate student researcher, and multiple undergraduate research assistants. Coordinates with groups at the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University. Responsibilities includes oversight of subject recruitment and of participant visits, adherence to the study protocol, preparing and maintaining IRB compliance materials, oversight of the budget, ordering supplies, maintaining financial records, oversight of participant payments, coordinating weekly staff meetings, working with the data manager to assure integrity of data, and assisting with manuscript and NIH progress reports. Schedule: Monday - Friday, Dayshift, No On-Call or Weekends, Paid Holidays Salary Range: $72 - $82k depending on experiencePRIMARY PURPOSE: Reports to Clinical/Research RN Manager and provides clinical nursing services in a comprehensive clinical environment, located at our Hemophilia Clinic of Western PA.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management. Assures quality customer service to all customers. Maintains good attendance and punctuality per the absence policy. Effectively evaluate hemorrhages and other medical problems and administer/infuse blood products or other treatment, vaccines, injections as needed. Provide venous access care including insertion of peripheral IV's, PICC maintenance and removal, mediport and central line maintenance. Accurately document all patient visits, infusions, medication requests/refills, immunizations, problems, lab results, and follow-up as needed. Triage and direct patient and family phone calls and inquiries. Refer patients to Administrative Assistant I to schedule clinic and physician appointments. Organize and run weekly comprehensive hemophilia clinics. Send cord blood kits to families as needed and provide instruction and tracking of results Coordinate appointments and track surgeries and procedures for all patients. Coordinate dispensing of all factor products to patients at home. Create new and innovative educational programs for patients, families, and other health care workers as the need arises. Administer home treatment training on request, including training patients in venipuncture, sterility, universal precautions, and dosage calculation as dictated in the updated version of the home treatment manual. Upholds the home treatment contract signed by patients by encouraging patients to send in home treatment records monthly and to maintain a comprehensive clinic visit yearly. Temporarily cover clinical and research patient care providing backup and assistance to Clinical and Research Nurses. In absence of social service personnel, will assist with psychosocial issues. In absence of insurance specialist, will assist with insurance issues. Provide coverage of MA duties for PTO. On-call for factor program coverage on a rotating schedule. Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned. #LABSTFRequirements Knowledge/Education Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred . Licenses/ Certifications RN license in the state of practice is required . Experience Minimum one year of hands-on nursing experience.
