Here, you will make an impact by:Supports and leads industrial design for projects, brands, and programs within the R&D group of 3M’s Medical Solutions Division (MSD).Identifies and develops improvements within a functional area of expertise.Coaches internal and external clients through the industrial design process including initial strategy, robust planning and development, project execution, insights development and synthesis, presentation or results, and communication of results.Collaborates across the organization with teams and other professional disciplines including engineers, market researchers, product owners, business partners, clinical specialists, design research, and digital designers in translating design work into actionable recommendations.Advocates for a customer or user centric approach by engaging with users (patients and health care providers) to establish and drive user needs throughout project(s). Support or conduct user research. Effectively de?nes and communicates user needs to cross-functional teams across R&D and business leadership. Highlights user need implications that require changes to the current strategy and development direction when necessary.Works with teams and agencies to manage design projects and maintain design intent. Engages in-depth with branded portfolios.Facilitates or aids design research in moderation of design workshops.Seeks, develops and practices influencing skills and team leadership competencies.Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following quali?cations:Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial design, product design, or related field AND Five (5) years of industrial design experience in a private, public, government or military environmentORA High School diploma with nine (9) years of industrial design experience in a private, public, government or military environmentANDIn addition to the above requirements, the following are also required:One (1) years’ experience working within the healthcare industry.Experience concept research, ideation, development, and verification practices.Additional quali?cations that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Master’s Degree (or equivalent expertise) in Design, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related ?eldTwo (2) years’ designing within regulated environments, such as healthcare, aviation, ?nance, or government.
