This includes docks, foundations, retaining walls, structural steel platforms, bents and towers, as well as modification to existing structures and deep/shallow foundation systems. This work may involve basic hand or spreadsheet calculations and/or computer modeling, using software such as RISA, STAAD and/or SACS from conceptual engineering through construction. Work assignments will be performed under the close supervision of experienced engineering staff. Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): · Local candidates only-must live within reasonable commuting distance to Metairie office; · Enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering program in an educational institution in the United States; · Candidates must have completed Sophomore year and have eligibility for Junior year standing; · Appropriate college level understanding of ASCE, ASHTO, AISC, design process, operational purpose/use, calculations and technical analyses; · Availability and the ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously; · Strong written and verbal communications skills. Appointments are for one year, with the possibility of renewal depending upon satisfactory performance and funding availability. The position will focus on hydroclimatic variability under climate change. The successful candidate will investigate changes in the seasonality, generation mechanism, intensity, and intermittency of precipitation in the Southeastern US.
