These relationships allow us to increase our financial strength and share our products, resources and knowledge. Cotton States Insurance® operates in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee, providing clients with auto, home, life, farm, commercial, long term care and disability income insurance. Independent agents work in Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The MiddleOak® insurance group provides home, auto, business, watercraft and specialty insurance through Middlesex Mutual Assurance Company, Middletown, Conn., and Holyoke Mutual Insurance Company in Salem, Mass. The group operates in a number of states, including Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia. It all began in 1925 with our roots firmly planted in agriculture. Since then, COUNTRY® Financial has been adding products and services to meet the changing needs of our clients. Our History 1925: COUNTRY Financial began as a fire and lightning insurance company 1926: Started offering crop hail and farm equipment insurance 1927: Began providing auto insurance 1929: Started providing life insurance 1935: Hired its first female financial representatives 1950: Significantly increased the number of claims representatives serving clients 1960: Moved our home office from downtown Chicago to Bloomington 1997: Opened 24-hour customer service center 2000: Country Companies group celebrates its 75th anniversary Our Growth 1964: Purchased Mid-America Fire and Marine Company, adding Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma to our area of operation 1986: Bought Northwest Farm Bureau, adding Nevada, Oregon and Washington 1987: Began operating in Alaska 1998: Formed an alliance with Middlesex Mutual Assurance Company of Middletown, Conn. 2000: Allied with Holyoke Mutual Insurance Company, Salem, Mass., and MSI Insurance Companies, Arden Hills, Minn. 2004: MSI representatives became COUNTRY Financial representatives, adding Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin 2005: Formed an alliance with Cotton State Insurance Group of Atlanta, Ga., operating in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.
