Continental Labor Resources, Inc. had modest beginnings but great aspirations in 1993 when Shannon Grove (Smith) and Karen Cain began their professional partnership. Drawing from her experience in the staffing and employment industry, Shannon knew that she could offer employers higher skilled, safety conscious employees while providing customer service unparalleled to the competition. With the help of her brother and sister-in-law Tony and Karen Cain, Shannon was able to begin Continental Labor Resources, Inc., known today as Continental Labor and Staffing Resources. Within the first two years in business, Continental Labor grew to become the largest independently owned staffing agency in Bakersfield. Today, Continental is one of the largest independently female-owned staffing agencies in California, employing over 4,000 workers and maintaining offices statewide.

Our understanding of a company’s culture ensures we can provide a qualified worker whose goals and work experience are aligned with those of our clients, minimizing costly turnover. Applicants are selected after a rigorous evaluation process including an extensive background check when required, skills assessment, and drug screening. After placement, we maintain weekly contact with clients and employees to ensure that the placement is a good fit. Moving at the speed of our clients’ businesses makes us agile and adaptable to changing needs – offering temporary employees, temporary-to-permanent positions, and direct hire recruitment.
