We employ a multidisciplinary approach that combines classical biochemistry, in vivo mouse models, in vitro patient-derived organoids (PDOs), cutting-edge multi-omics techniques, and advanced bioinformatic analyses to identify key post-transcriptional mechanisms that govern cancer progression and metastasis. We aim to develop innovative therapeutic strategies, in particular RNA therapeutics, to translate these mechanistic insights into the clinic. This position will allow the selected candidate to learn cutting-edge experimental and bioinformatic techniques essential for genomics and cancer research and have work published in high-impact journals. In addition, regular career development meetings with the PI will also be held to help the selected candidate transition to more advanced academic or industrial positions.Dr. Liu completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the Laboratory of Systems Cancer Biology at the Rockefeller University, where he and his colleagues employed a systems cancer biology approach to discover the critical role of tRNA-derived RNA fragments (tRFs), a novel class of small RNAs, in regulating gene expression and breast cancer metastasis (Goodarzi, Liu, et. al., 2015 Cell; Liu, et. al., 2022 Mol Cell). Prior to that, Dr. Liu earned a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Pennsylvania, where he combined biochemistry and genomics to study mechanisms that control microRNA biogenesis (Liu, et. al., 2012 Mol Cell; Liu, et. al., 2014 Mol Cell).Salary range for this position is $46,649 - $59,159 which includes a comprehensive benefits package.Qualifications:Required Education and Experience1.
